Help me grant the opportunity to garden year round for my developmental kindergarten students!
I would love to have my students experience learning a life skill in school with a hands-on approach to growing their own food in a sustainable way.
This is a life skill that will travel with them their entire lives.
I plan to set up the rack with the grow lights and allow each student to pick the plant that they personally would like to grow. They will be in charge of tending, pruning, watering, and ultimately harvesting their bounty to enjoy with the class.
Being in Michigan, we have a short growing season and most of that season is in the summer when the kids are not in attendance. By bringing the garden indoors I can extend that experience into a teachable experience of a lifetime.
