Help me give my students Dab o Dink bingo markers, paint sticks, markers and other resources to make DOT ART, have joy, learn self-regulation strategies, and explore!
Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist who is sometimes called ‘the princess of polka dots'. Although she makes lots of different types of art – paintings, sculptures, performances and installations – she has become known for the one thing they have in common, DOTS! By adding all-over marks and dots to her paintings, drawings, objects and clothes she feels as if she is making them (and herself) melt into, and become part of, the bigger universe.
Studies have shown allowing students to have the opportunity to participate in art reduces disciplinary actions and lowers dropout rates.
Since Art class is once a week, I want my students daily to have a chance to explore different types of art (contemporary art and popular culture), while allowing them to regulate their emotions and prepare their minds for the work of the day. We need Dab o Dink bingo markers, aluminum foil , tempera paint, markers and other resources to make this happen.
