Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a smaller school for our area filled with great kids that are willing and ready to learn! My students are from various backgrounds and they each bring unique qualities to our classroom! Everyone is different, but they work together extremely well and enjoy collaborating on group projects and activities. They are full of energy and love to move around and do active things like play sports or dance. They are constantly smiling and always chatting with each other!

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 60% of our students receiving free and lunch.

There is a multitude of teams and clubs that fit the needs of everyone. Our football team lost the opportunity to fundraise due to COVID-19. In order to assist the parents and players, we are designing this project to lessen the financial cost.

My Project

Our students need to have a classroom library filled with YA books to inspire their literary journeys! These books will help us to fill our bookshelf in the classroom and will be used to allow students to learn about the joy of reading! Students will be able to practice the reading skills that they learn in their English/Language Arts classes... but those skills will be applied to a fun reading atmosphere where students can choose their reading materials! Students will be able to participate in "Drop Everything and Read" with the implementation of this new project!
