My Students

My students come from all different backgrounds specifically Low income areas. This is the first time many of these students are in small class settings we have a maximum of 17 students. Last year they were in classes of 32 or more! I have students coming to me who were just pushed to the next grade and still can not read! It is heartbreaking to see students like this mot get the help they need. I want these students to get to expierence having the best of things because they come from not that much. We just opened our school in September and are still in need of supplies to make their classroom complete.

My Project

Since this is a new school we didn't start off this year having all of the supplies we needed. I want my students to be able to have the best of everything. Writing is what my students need to work on the most because for some of them this is the first time they are being exposed to writing And I want to make it fun for them. We have very little in the way of writing materials for these students. Dictionaries would come in great help for these students who are struggling with their spelling. Writing is so important for these students to be well rounded students. We will be using the pencils for the students to actually write their writing workshop essays. These students don't have much and they are always running out of pencils. The color pens will be used for the students to edit their own work as well as peer edit those around them. The colored pens will make them excited about editing. The Post Its will be used for the students to give each other feed back on how they can better their essays. I believe that students learn equally as much from their peers as they do from adults.
