This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students at a low income school . All of my students receive free lunch. This is my first year in the older grades. My students are very smart and want to learn. They hardly miss school and they love to learn new things. I teach writing, which can be challenging in the South.
When we are writing, my students are very creative.
They love making up stories and completing a published writing of their own. They work extra hard to revise it to make it better.
My Project
These supplies will help my students tremendously. Some students do not have spiral bound notebooks, paper, pencils, or folders. With these materials already in class, students will just have to show up and do their best. In class, these supplies are used daily. This will take the pressure off students trying to borrow supplies from classmates. By donating to this project, you will help my students perform better in writing class. Students will enjoy writing and not have to worry about their lack of supplies.
Copy paper will ensure that each student receive their own copy of the writing prompt and informational text.
Copy paper is limited and I teach 70 students. Books are outdated and I have to find passages for students to refer back to when writing.
