Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is full of energetic, dual language, third and fourth grade students who enjoy learning in two languages.

They live in a high poverty area in the Bronx. My students receive instruction in both English and Spanish on a daily basis. My students love to learn and they are excited to write daily with support, so they can become successful independent writers.

Many of my students don't have the opportunity to read or write online.

My students are bilingual learners who love to read and share their learning. Many depend on an iPad or computer to read books digitally which often doesn't work due to a lack of internet service at home. Despite the hardships they are facing with school teaching remotely or blended, they are eager learners.

My Project

My project consists of an essential tabletop teaching easel, magnetic letters, and word building to use during guided writing instruction. For example, a teaching easel will help guide and support students' writing goals.

My students will be able to support each other in writing as they use the easel to show and share their writing ideas.

This project is important because with the teacher's help, students will learn to use writing strategies, so they can use them independently and become better writers. Students will also be using the magnetics letter to combine beginning, middle, and ending sounds to build words
