Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a special education teacher working with students with moderate to extensive needs. Due to their disabilities, they struggle with their penmanship. They are unable to write legibly without supports. Using regular notebooks has not been beneficial, as they are not able to determine how to big or small their letters or words should be.

The design of this journal makes the printing process more student friendly, as they become easily overwhelmed due to their disabilities.

There is a designated place for writing and a separate section where they can have the opportunity to illustrate their ideas and be creative. This matches their reading process, as they need images to support their reading skill development.

My students need primary style composition notebooks because they consist of both solid lines and dashed lines for writing. These lines help students make make their writing more straight. The line width supports optimal pencil control. With the help of the this primary journal, my students will learn how to write in a straight line, and how to use precise spacing between letters.
