This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing! They are eager to learn, ready to dive into new topics, and strong enough to keep going when things get tough.
My students and I are a team, working and learning together all the time.
We do as much as we can, despite issues outside of the classroom. We work hard daily to learn how to read and complete basic math. My students are a family. We work together, struggle together, cry together and, most importantly, learn together.
My Project
Guided reading is a huge part of first grade. Within guided reading, students practice different skills including phonics, writing, and spelling. The magnetic boards I am asking for will allow students to use magnetic letters to spell words and practice writing sentences.
Students need repetition of writing common sight words and practicing sentence structure to become successful readers and writers.
Reading and writing go hand in hand. Students who are beginning to read also need ample practice writing. The boards and markers I am asking for will allow a ton of practice during guided reading groups and center time.
