My Students

I have the joy of teaching 25 kindergarten students in a Title I school. Kindergartners are an enthusiastic bunch who are inquisitive, eager to learn, and work very hard! My school and classroom serve a racially, ethnically, religiously, and socioeconomically diverse population. Many of my students are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Unfortunately, some of these things may prevent them from acquiring the life experiences many of us see as "typical".

My goal is to provide a joyful, memorable and meaningful learning experiences for all my students.

They love to learn about new things and especially love hands-on activities. I want them to leave my class on a daily basis thinking learning is fun!

With your donation, my students will have the opportunity not only to learn content knowledge but also to empower their learning and achieve every day more and more.

My Project

My students need to work independently during guided reading, and writing is a big part of literacy. What better way to encourage writing to five-year-olds than through art!

The painting materials will allow students to draw and paint as they write stories.

This paper center holds writing art paper that will encourage students to get their drawing/painting paper and begin creating stories.

So while students enjoy creating stories during small group work they will get a chance to create artwork without making a mess and providing easy cleanup! Writing through art, a fun way to create.
