Writing Should Be Shared - Part 2

My Students

Please help us share our writing. My special education students are working hard to improve their writing skills, want to share their finished stories with friends and family, but have to wait until the next day to receive a printed copy of their finished writing.

The students I have the pleasure of working with come from general education classrooms in a kindergarten though sixth grade elementary school.

These students come to work with me in a special education classroom (Resource Room) where they receive academic support and specialized instruction in reading, writing and/or math for part of their school day. Many of the students I work with come from low income households and their knowledge of English is limited. The students in my class have IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) and are working hard to achieve their goals.

My Project

On my first project, I was requesting a printer/copier for the students. After receiving a generous donation of a printer/copier, I am now requesting ink cartridges. I want to be able to provide students with the immediate reward of having their completed stories in their hands ready to share. By having the materials needed, students will be able to type, print and copy their finished work leading to a positive classroom experience of becoming a writer.

Writing is an area of difficulty for my students because they lack the skills and confidence needed.

Please help me assist students in feeling successful about their accomplishments by giving them the tools needed to share their writing so that they can enjoy learning.
