It is important for students to learn how to write correctly in the early grades so that they will be prepared for life-long writing.

I teach inner-city first grade students in Georgia. Most of the students that I teach come to school with nothing but a beautiful smile, and an eagerness to learn. The parents of these students don't have the funds to equip their children with the fundamental supplies such as pencils, paper, and crayons. It is left up to the schools to supply these items, and those supplies have to be distributed among over 500 students. It is important that students learn how to write correctly and spell accurately. This can only be done with a few basic school supplies.

The resources that I need in order to teach my students to write and spell include student paper, chart paper, markers, crayons, dry erase boards, as well as dry erase board cleaner. These supplies would benefit the students in my class, and would help them to be able to learn and practice spelling rules as well as how to write words, sentences, and stories that are interesting and correctly done.

Your help will make it possible for my students to continue the status that our school has accomplished of being a "School of Excellence". This status has been made possible in part by donors such as yourself, and your donation would make a difference in the academic success of the students in my classroom. This is important because many students are not able to learn information necessary to achieve on state mandated tests because they don't have the basic materials that most students take for granted. Please don't take this opportunity for granted. Help my students make academic gains with this donation.
