These students are truly amazing! They are hard working, kind and supportive of each other. I love seeing them work together and the classroom community we have created brings a smile to my face everyday.
This past year these students have gone through a lot.
I teach at a Title I school where students are generally very sweet, parents are helpful, but money is tight. These kids had a very odd and rocky kindergarten experiences with hybrid learning, online only learning and then classroom learning. I am hoping that this year they will feel love, warmth and care like never before. Yay for 1st grade!
My Project
I teach 1st grade ... and I love it! I have taught 3 different grades and 1st is, by far, my favorite. There are exceptions but, for the most part, the kids are loving, kind and hardworking! Seeing their abilities grow this year has been such a blessing for me and I know that they are feeling proud of themselves for how far they have come. One thing that I have learned for sure this year is the need for differentiated groups for reading, writing and math. This age group varies in skill levels so much that it is close to impossible to teach them in one large group.
For that reason, I am trying to collect fun and educational things to put in my differentiated small groups.
These supplies will be used in a writing center. I really want the students to have dry erase boards with lines because it helps them with their handwriting. I will have them pick a card from the card box and then write a sentence about what they are doing on the card. To make it more fun they will have a color spinner and whatever color it lands on will be the color of dry erase marker they will get to use. I know the kids will love this center and will be learning great writing and understanding skills in the process. I cannot wait for my class to have these fun supplies!
