My Students

My students love technology and writing. Black and white is dull and boring. My students take great pride in their work. Having a color printer will allow them to show off and add visual appeal to their projects.

I teach 5th grade to 40 creative students.

They love technology and creating projects. Currently, our class is working on a class book. Some students have chosen to research places in our hometown. They were given a list of all different projects to chose from. Students are required to present their findings to the class by creating a page of a class book in google. My students feel that they do not get to show their full potential printing in black and white. They would much rather take their time to create their own clip art, wordle project, or borders to enhance their projects appearance.

My Project

In my classroom, I am lucky enough to have a chromecart. Having the availability of the carts, students get time to work on research and projects. Having a wireless, color, printer in my classroom, would allow students to print from these chromebooks. We would greatly benefit from the use of a wireless printer. Our school gives each teacher a limited amount of pages they can print each month. This does not give me any extra pages to print my students' work. Having a color printer in the class, will give all of the students the same opportunity to add color into our room.

My tech savvy students are always working on some type of project.

Whether it be creating a comic strip demonstrating the proper use of quotation marks, a political cartoon, or scrap book page for a historical figure, my students are constantly using software that will enhance their work. The use of the printer will allow them to add pictures to their assignments. They will be able to print book covers on card stock, for their fractured fairytales. The opportunities for my students are endless.
