My Students

Kindergarten was once a place where children went to socialize and learn through play experiences. Today's kindergarten looks very different, with the emphasis on academic achievement and very few opportunities for play. For some students, this can lead to boredom and behavior problems.

My students come from a wide range of backgrounds.

Some come to school with vast experiences and background knowledge, while others have had very limited educational experiences before entering kindergarten, and are unprepared for the high expectations of students entering school. However, all of these students combined are what makes my job the best job in the world! These little ones come to school excited and ready learn.

My Project

In a technology filled world it is still imperative for children to learn the basic foundational writing skills. What better way to do this than provide them with fun and engaging writing activities and supplies?

A successful writer is also a successful reader.

Young children need the opportunity to participate in age appropriate writing and art activities that are fun and engaging. Writing is quickly becoming a lost art and has taken a back seat to the many digital alternatives that are readily available to students. My students will use the paint, craft paper, stamps and ink pads to create their own art projects and then use the writing supplies to write about their creations.
