Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second grade students are English Language Learners who come from families of low socioeconomic status. They speak Spanish and are mastering English. They come from humble homes who can't provide them with many material things. These families do their best to make ends meet. Some share their food and shelter with relatives, but despite these disadvantages they are eager and motivated to learn. They come to school with a smile and are ready to prepare themselves to succeed and take pride in their work. .

My Project

Unfortunately, our school's budget is not big enough to purchase a printer for every classroom, extra paper and ink. We currently have to share a printer among the grade level, and we have limited supplies of paper and ink. And as you can imagine, our usage is also very limited. With this donation, my students will transform their handwritten work to printed publications. Publishing writing pieces will allow my students to create a quality product for their readers.

Publishing is probably the least aspect of the writing process used in school nowadays.

I believe publishing is very important because it provides an exchange of ideas between the writer and reader, not just a performance for the teacher. It will provide motivation for writing and it will emphasize higher level thinking, such as creativity and organization.
