My Students

Writers inspiring with their words; readers living in new worlds. Our fifth graders grow so much within one year at our school. They become authors whom our younger grades can't wait to hear their new creations. They tackle new books and explore many genres. They become inspired by what they read and turn that into their own writing. They are inspiring each other to publish, publish, publish! Writing is a way that they have found to express themselves when talking about their struggles does not seem to be an option. Their voices are being heard.

My Project

My students are taking their writing to new levels! We have embraced a new writing curriculum that allows them to get in touch with their inner author. As they realize their potential, they require more tools to better hone their craft. We want to stretch their writing to new horizons. The writing activities will allow them to explore different types of writing.

As much as the final product is important, so is the process.

Students love to talk about what they have done. Document cameras allow each student to share their process with the whole class. This fosters amazing peer collaboration!

In a time when it seems that writing has lost its way among younger generations, our students' pencils are on fire!
