My Students

I forgot my pencil. Can I sharpen my pencil? Teachers hear comments like these many times a day. Many schools and families are experiencing adjustments in their budgets. We should not let this affect student success. My students can benefit greatly from a donation of writing materials to my classes.

We are family!

I teach in a wonderful elementary school in south Georgia that is filled with enthusiastic teachers and learners! Our school is the best! Currently, I assist in planning lessons and teaching a total of 181 students in grades K-5 in math and reading intervention classes. They are amazing students who work very hard!

My Project

In order to help students be successful in the classroom, they need supplies and materials that teachers can use to aid in the learning process. When students come to my class, many of them forget to bring their pencils, or they need to sharpen their pencils. At times this task can be time consuming which takes away from instructional times. By providing the students with sharpened pencils and erasers we can quickly begin to learn. Dry erase boards will also help with learning. The dual side boards are very handy with all of the K-5 classes. Kindergarten will practice writing letters, numbers and sentences on the lined side, and the students in upper grades will work math problems on the blank side of the board. Having smaller sized board erasers will help all students easily handle all materials at once in their small hands.

The economy has taken a toll on school budgets and the pockets of many teachers.

The completion of this project will allow me to plan lessons and activities for K-5 classes that will foster student achievement. I, like all teachers, want all of my students to be successful.
