Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students at our K-8 Center come from different socio-economic backgrounds. In my classroom I teach students with a range of abilities and disabilities from gifted students, ESOL students learning English as a second language to those with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, specific learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.

My wonderful first graders are ready to learn!

I have many students in my class who receive free or reduce-priced lunch.

Although my students come from different backgrounds and experiences, they all have a desire to learn and are excited about coming to school! My wish as their teacher is to foster a love of learning, and to help the children succeed and achieve their learning goals.

My Project

With many students completing their last school year virtually, I will use these materials to help students close gaps in pre-reading skills and help them perfect their basic reading skills.

In Kindergarten students practice many skills that set them for success in reading.

Many of my first grade students missed these opportunities by attending school virtually or even in person but wearing masks. I now need to reinforce those skills and will use the pop its to help students practice in a fun way. The boards will help the students write down letters and put sounds together and even be able to show me from 6 feet distance to keep everyone safe!
