Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with special needs students that need a lot of support and adaptations. A lot of them have high sensory needs. They need lots of adaptations including walking ropes to help them understand boundaries, printed visual schedules, chewy items to help them regulate, adapted toys for play, and safety items to prevent the children from accessing dangerous areas. The light table is a great way to adapt and modify lessons for low vision students.

We learn through play and exploration!

Many of these children have never been in a school setting before. They need practice with basic routines and need to be able to safely explore their environment away from their parents. Many of them also come from disadvantaged socioeconomic situations so the items that they have preciously experience can be quite limited.

These items will literally open up a new world of exploration for them!
