My Students

My students are 21st-century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them. I teach 26, curious, fourth-grade scientists in a small, Title I-funded school that has an amazing and supportive principal.

My students are eager to learn and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.

Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.

Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children. They have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.

My Project

Teaching during a pandemic has been challenging to say the least. For almost two years my students were engaged in remote-distance learning where nearly all assignments were completed on computers. Now that we are back in the classroom, my students are eager and excited to write their own stories.

My fourth graders want to become authors!

This project will provide my students with hardcover blank books. With these materials they will write and design books about one of our Science or Social Studies topics from cover to cover including the table of contents, a dedication page and a mini biography! The books will be shared with other grade levels and be placed in our school library where other students will be able to check them out! They cannot wait to be authors, and with your help they will be!
