My Students

I teach in a Title I school in Southern California, where 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students face many obstacles in their lives, such as poverty and crime. But despite these issues, they come to school every day, ready to learn.

My students are enthusiastic learners, who love to read, write, and learn new things.

I want to encourage their enthusiasm and provide them with a safe, nurturing environment where they will persevere and feel successful.

My Project

My students love to write! Everyday they get to start a new writing piece or continue working on one they've already started. Then they pick their favorite story to publish. That's where these materials come in. My students can choose if they want to type and illustrate their stories on their iPads and then print their final product. Or they might want to use sharpie markers, markers, and colored pencils to create a story by hand.

These materials - markers, colored pencils, and ink - will allow my students to express their creativity and take pride in their work.

Hopefully it will inspire them to be authors and further their love of writing.
