Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Identifying, and vocalizing our emotions, thoughts and opinions is one of our main focuses especially as our students are beginning to hit an age where they going to transition into adult programs. With this project we are working on using different mediums, typing, writing, using our AAC devices, sensory letters to build words to express our emotions and affirm things for us to see daily *(I can do it, you got this!, your amazing).

We are working on using different forms to share our thoughts, feeling and making each other aware of how to affirm positive behaviors but also manage and cope with difficult feelings such as anger, upset situations, confusion, embarrassment and others.

Typing, writing, putting letters together are all reliant in letter identification skills that they practice while also working together to see themselves and reflect on how they feel. Using items such as the mirror to see what others see and understand certain cues that present how we feel. For example, smiling, frowning both represent different emotions, and with this project it opens the door the many lessons about identifying feelings, coping with them, expressing them using student Preferred Methods of Communication *(AAC device, vocally, using sensory letters etc)
