My Students

Learning to read and write is such an exciting time in my kindergarteners lives. I teach my class in small groups, and one of their favorite activities is wipe off spelling. They start by identifying first and last sounds and then are introduced to vowels and decoding and encoding words.

We are a suburban public school in California.

My Kindergarten students are always excited to learn and come in ready to seize the day. We use many types of learning tools to meet the needs of all the children in my class. We learn in small group centers and it is very important to have the proper learning tools at each center.

My Project

My students will use the wipe off boards and markers to learn how to decode and encode consonant vowel consonant words. Wipe off spelling is one of their favorite reading and writing activities. The groups are differentiated so I can go as fast or slow as necessary. Withing these groups I teach first and last sounds, then introduce vowels. The students learn to identify the sounds then start reading and writing words. It is so exciting to see their faces when they realize they are reading!

These supplies will made a difference since the boards and markers are used daily and with a full class set, I can do whole group and small group lessons.

I can also set up differentiated activities at different centers.
