Wright Arts Get Musical Through Project-Based Learning With Seussical!
Help me give my students the supplies they need to produce our musical for the 24-24 school year. My students are representative of the most underserved communities in Los Angeles, and our arts students are also extremely talented.

Our students are incredibly talented. Many students play an instrument, dance, act, and sing. Wright is a STEAM and Gifted Magnet offering electives that help develop students’ interests and abilities. In addition, as part of a project-based learning community, the art classes collaborate on school-wide arts programs. For the Spring musical, students in instrumental music, stage crew, and theater will produce “Suessical JR.” Even though we will perform in the spring semester, students will be engaged in learning targets derived from this theme throughout the school year.
Students run all of our shows at our school.
Hence, they gain real-life skills in the entertainment industry and life skills in a team. Putting on a spring musical is no small task; supplies are needed to create costumes, repair instruments, and repair sets. Students will assist in designing and constructing sets, costumes, and props for the show. The walkie-talkie devices assist the student crew in hearing me make calls during the show. There are students behind the curtain, in the sound and lighting, in the and spotlight booth. Having these communication devices helps to keep the magic in the show as tech runs smoothly. At our middle school, students don’t just develop academically but grow as individuals in a larger, diverse community. Students gain 21st century skills in creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. These skills benefit students in higher education and the modern workspace.
