This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Excuses are the nails that built the house of failure." Our wrestlers understand and live by this quote. This group of exceptional young athletes is constantly rising above challenges in order to become leaders in their sport and in the classroom.
The wrestling team is a tight knit group of students that encourage and support each other through all obstacles.
Each year the wrestlers work hard to fundraise in order to financially support their season. Things like uniforms, head gear and other training equipment is earned through hours of hard work. The wrestlers do this because they share a love and passion for their sport. They are the athletes that are the first to arrive at the school in the mornings and they are the last to leave in the afternoons. They work tirelessly because they want to rise above the rest.
My Project
The students need a safe surface to be able to conduct their wrestling practices and matches. The new mat will provide a wonderful opportunity for both existing student athletes and new team members to practice and compete. The new mat will be the site of all home matches, in addition to providing a place for tournaments and special events. Wrestlers will be able to take their craft to the next level. Whether it is a "two on one" or an "arm drag" our student athletes will use this new mat to push themselves further and reach new levels of excellence!
Donations to this project will help elevate a group of young athletes and enable them to become successful.
Wrestling teaches youth the importance of work ethic, self discipline and accountability. It also teaches them to stand up in the face of adversity. The wrestlers work extremely hard every year and deserve a new mat to provide a safe space for learning these important lessons that they will carry with them throughout the rest of their lives.
