Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have never traveled out of the city to experience the beautiful woods that are near our school. We have also studied about bees and the Nature Center has an excellent Bee Exhibit.

I teach twenty-five wonderful fourth grade students in a special needs school just west of the city.

Most of my students receive free lunch. They have had perfect attendance so far this year. They just love to come to school to learn everything that they can so that they will be successful in the future.

My Project

My students and their fourth grade buddies have been studying about nature. They have never visited a nature center, even though they live only a few miles from a great nature center. I want to take my students and their fourth grade buddies to The North Park Nature Center. They will be able to see the animals that live there and view the bee exhibit that is housed inside the clubhouse, but has a tube that allows the bees to come and go to gather nectar for the queen bee. Deer, squirrels and beautiful birds live at the Nature Center. They will also get to examine animal artifacts when they visit the clubhouse.

I want this trip for my students and their fourth grade buddies so that they will learn about the wild life that lives close by.

When I talk about a day in the forest, I want them to remember the field trip that we took and how much fun they had hiking through the woods. If we could experience this trip, our test scores in science would improve.
