High school can be tough. Attending a high school in a new city or country can be tougher. Throw in the fact that none of my students have ever set foot in our building, and the upcoming year is already FULL of challenges...and we're only JUST getting our feet underneath ourselves.
Despite last year's socially-distant setbacks, my students are budding mathematicians, looking for every opportunity to show off -- and I want to give them as many chances as I can.
They show up every day with eager, open minds, curious about the geometric relationships that exist in the world. They ask questions, tackle complex problems, and persevere as well as any career academic, day in and day out.
I am proud of my students' tenacity and ingenuity in the face of adversity. I'd like to help make their experience this year a little more comfortable.
Geometry is an extremely applicable subject, but it can be difficult to provide students with the opportunity to apply the concepts they are learning to real-world situations while sitting at a desk. These survey kits will provide students multiple opportunities throughout the year to apply many concepts -- some simple and foundational, some complex, but ALL relevant.
With these Land Survey Kits, my students will have the chance to put their hands on, and make sense of, the geometric concepts that could possibly lead them to a career.
Whether learning how to identify and measure angles, create model diagrams of a real-world situation or apply trigonometric concepts in a year-end project, these Land Survey Kits will be an invaluable, relevant, and hands-on chance for my students to grab hold of their learning.
