My Project
My contemporary literature class is on the hunt for a novel to add to the curriculum that will spark student interest. We are finishing up a unit on satire right now and have been focusing on how an author uses humor.
Now it's time to switch gears and look at how authors cause their readers to feel empathy for the characters they are reading about.
This novel would help students learn more about empathy while also allowing them to experience the world in a post-apocalyptic sense. The other novels in our classroom are very outdated and are not in very good condition so offering a newer class set to my students that can be reused for years would be very helpful. We are hoping for 45 books so that students are able to take the books with them outside of the classroom to work on readings at home and to ensure that all students have the same edition of the text.
