Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many times when we read class chapter books there is mention of a meal or treat in the book. I try to support my students learning and their success at finishing the book by making the food or treat with them in class. The supplies in this project will help to provide most of the ingredients needed to complete these cooking activities. We will have gummy worms, coconut, and chocolate pudding to make worms in dirt to go along with our book How to Eat Fried Worms, tricolor noodles and spaghetti sauce to make wormy spaghetti when we read The Twits, lollipops with honey and crushed Lemonheads to create Acid Pops when we read Harry Potter, Lucky Charms cereal to sort and graph for St. Patrick's Day, and Oreo cookies to learn the phases of the moon.

Cooking is a great way to support cross-curriculum learning.
