Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Though my students live in a high-poverty area and often lack needed essentials at home, they love coming to school each day.

In school, they feel safe and are excited to learn due to the consistency and community they feel every day in the classroom.

Each day, they are welcomed with an open heart and open arms. My students love to read, listen to music, and are free to show off their individual artistic abilities in a warm and loving environment.

My Project

I am asking for a subscription to Scholastic News and composition books for my students. I believe that now more than ever, children need to know what is happening in the world around them and beyond! By having this subscription to Scholastic News, the students will be able to understand and acknowledge all the major current events throughout the world. They will read about new inventions, new technology, and be able to explain what they are learning to their family members and friends. I am also including compostion books for them to take notes in as they read and to maybe even think of ways to solve the issues they are reading about. This promotes critical thinking in the classroom, which is a goal for students as they get older and move into middle school and high school.
