My Students

Experiencing history is the best way to learn it. In February of 2020, I will travel with students to Rome and Paris.

We will take part in wonderful activities such as a theater workshop and a painting class, in addition to seeing all of the wonderful sites and mixture of cultures in those cities.

We are a Title I performing arts school that has been open for 19 years. Our students maintain over 90% attendance rate and are very talented in all of their art forms, whether it is visual arts, instrumental music, drama, dance or vocal. I know that visiting such places will be a truly magical lifetime experience for our art students.

My Project

As we go through our travels of our trip we will be seeing and experiencing so much. There is a very good chance of mental overdrive and memories mixing together. We are requesting journals for our students so that they can record their emotions and reactions as we explore all of those magnificent cities each day. This way students will have a day by day account of their travels that they can look back to for a lifetime.

A pen coupled with paper can serve as a powerful life tool.

Journaling is an ancient tradition and many successful and important historical figures have kept journals. Through their journals students will be able to integrate their life experiences and their classroom lessons while enhancing their self expression.

In addition to the journals, I am asking for art supplies for impromptu drawing sessions during any down time or at one of the many spectacular sites that we will see.

Another key aspect of memorable travel experiences is to feel good while you are learning. To help with this I am asking for collapsible water bottles to keep us hydrated while we walk many miles around these wonderful cities and a first aid kit to help keep everyone safe and healthy.
