My Students

The motto of our school is "Full STEAM Ahead!" That is exactly what the staff at my school encourage our students to work hard to do! We are a small school in the Bronx, NYC. We have a very loving community of Arabic, French, African American and Latin families that are looking for an enhanced education for their children. Our school is still in it's infancy and proudly celebrates the growth we are making to reach our academic goals.

Our students embody the very essence of what it means to be courageous!

Over 50% of our student population are English Language Learners. They confidently face social-emotional and academic challenges with ease because they know that the staff at my school is supporting and rooting them on to success.

Our students love to explore in the STEAM lab! We use our resources wisely to create a rigorous, hands-on​ environment where students apply their knowledge in fun and unique ways. We love to solve problems with unique models to creatively come up with solutions to "Full STEAM Ahead" in our academic path to success!

My Project

Our students are so excited to learn about the positive impact we can have on the Earth. In preparation for Earth Day, our kindergarten students have taken a survey of our school's waste bins. We wrote letters to our custodial staff to get all the bins we need to recycle! During our research, we learned that another way to decrease our waste is to compost.

Our students want to begin a compost waste disposal system to encourage everyone in our community to be more aware of how recycling helps our planet!

Setting up this system will help us observe how living things decompose. With the assistance of red wiggler worms our students can see how animals also play a major role in recycling food waste. Students will learn that plants, animals and humans are all connected to keep Earth healthy.

Once we have enough compost collected we want to bag and donate it to our community garden. Doing this will help enrich the soil with the nutrients needed to grow beautiful plants. Students will learn that humans have a responsibility to take care of the planet we call our home. We look forward to using these donated supplies to continue to enrich our STEAM recycling program!
