My Students

I am a speech therapist working at a Title l elementary school in East New York, Brooklyn. All of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch and many children receive additional foods and school supplies. My students are all so eager to learn and grow yet each have their own style of learning in order to acquire new skills. Most of my students are all classified as speech and language impaired and receive special education services. Many of my students are also classified as autistic and learning disabled.

My Project

Through Teachers Pay Teachers, I will be able to purchase a variety of materials including strategy cards to help give my students the resources they need to help them access the curriculum. My students will learn the skills necessary to enhance their learning experiences in the classroom. My students will use strategies and activities to identify the main idea, make predictions and inferences, answer a variety of questions including higher order thinking questions, compare and contrast, follow directions, use context clues to identify the meaning of unknown words, and learn how to write grammatically complete sentences.
