Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am trying to get some magnetic cubes that we can use for upcoming math lessons and that we can use to complete some STEAM building challenges. These blocks can also be used for a fast finisher activity or morning bins. In second grade, we start the basics of multiplication with repeated addition and building arrays. These magnetic blocks would be a fun way to practice these skills in a more hands-on way by letting my students physically build the arrays. We also learn how to partition rectangles (dividing them into equal parts) which is a stepping stone for fractions.

In our class, we like to work hard AND play hard!

We also are at the midway point in the year and need to restock on our tissues (there have been a lot of colds so our tissues are running low), wipes for our tables (to try and keep the germs at bay), whiteboard markers (we use our whiteboards every day for solving math problems to practicing our phonics and writing skills) and snacks (to help keep our brains focused if our stomaches get rumbly). These are our most used items in our class and would be very helpful to get a boost to last us until the end of the year!
