Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our academy is a small charter school nestled off of a busy rural highway. The town is small and a staple in the lush landscape of the town of Micanopy, Florida. Our school has some amazing children!

They are well-behaved and enthusiastic about the outside world.

Besides some of the real-world problems they have endured, now they are also experiencing the effects of this worldwide pandemic. The toughest thing about this is the isolation they find themselves in. I believe that they are in a critical age of development and so it saddens me even more than their local library has been closed. Movies teachers have shut down. Places to eat besides the two found in Micanopy, now are faced with closure in the neighboring towns such as Ocala and Gainesville. All this adds up to even fewer opportunities for them to have the everyday needed interactions to become high functioning adults of the future.

My Project

These exciting and high tech materials will absolutely assist in engaging and keeping student morale up in these challenging times. Gaming is a great incentive to give students a way to escape the pressures of daily academic rigor in today’s classroom. Students are hard pressed to meet all the requirements needed to succeed. With these activities, teachers are able to inspire students to want to learn and reach for completing these tasks in order to use these tools to enhance the educational experience for the betterment of all our students!
