This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school has a population of approximately 1,100 students ranging from grades kindergarten through eighth. More than ninety percent of our boys and girls are from low-income homes and receives free lunch. My students are exceptional needs students who range from sixth through eighth grades who are participating on the school's basketball teams. These girls and boys are all energetic inquisitive learners and are interested in staying fit and getting stronger.
My students want to get stronger, faster, and more agile.
These young girls and boys are sixth through eighth graders who are part of the girls or boys basketball team. Our coaches are offering extended time for the sports team to improve their conditioning. This time will give the students to work on their strength and mobility.
My Project
My students need various equipment to use as they work to build stamina for the upcoming basketball season. Your donation will provide dumbbells, kettlebells, and tension bands so that the students can build and tone muscle as well as strengthen their core. The students will learn how to work out different parts of their bodies to build a strong core.
The exercise equipment will allow the students to strengthen their bodies.
These students will be part of the group that promotes active physical engagement outside the classroom. These students will have time after school to participate in various activities to get fit. We want the students to learn how being active is healthy which could have a positive impact on their ability to perform during the school day as well on the court. The students will learn how to take care of their bodies by exercising daily. We hope to inspire them to become creatures of habit and make exercising apart of their daily routines as they get older.
