My Students
Rekindle our love for words and learning. We want to say good bye to dull pencil and paper and hello to dough, ink, and blocks in our word work station.
My 2nd grade students are bright and enthusiastic about learning!
We learn each day in a suburban school in North Carolina. This year our grade level adopted the Words Their Way program that focuses on learning word patterns to build up better readers and writers. Pencil and paper used to be enough but our enthusiasm is waning. We are not afraid of hard work but we need some materials to keep learning exciting!
My Project
Each day in my class I work hard to meet the learning needs of all of my students. I give them a variety of activities to do each day with their words but some new equipment would really help me motivate my young learners!
My hands-on learners will be thrilled about using word building blocks to build their words. My artistic students will be excited about molding pipe cleaners and dough into letters to form words. They will also enjoy using the alphabet dough stamps to stamp out their words in the fun colored dough! My students who struggle with handwriting the conventional way now will be head over hills for the super fun magic writing boards where erasing is never an issue.
I am also requesting alphabet letter stamps with ink to give my students even more variety!
I know that when students are given choices they are motivated and excited to meet their academic goals.
Learning word patterns will help my students tackle words that they come across in their reading and writing. Reading and writing skills will be important to my young learners as they go through school and later in life. My students would really appreciate a little help in the direction of success.
