Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are low-income, inner city kids. They crave knowledge; they have applied to be in a magnet school, children with high grades and positive behaviors are the only students who are accepted into our Philadelphia Public School.

I teach ELA with only a text book and would love to enrich my students with a novel that excites them and teaches them about the history of Africa and America.

These children are some of the first in their families to get to middle school and they WANT to be in school. This will motivate them to read and continue to learn to love reading.

My Project

This project will allow my students to not only read from a "reader." This will make a difference in their education by giving them a chance to have supportive literature and read across the curriculum. They deserve to have the chance to read from a novel that they will love and learn from, rather than short excerpts from a designated text. The message this book will give them is, "As long as we have life, we have hope." This is a real life message my inner city students need and it will be given to them through a novel they will crave.
