My Project

In Third Grade our students learn to build vocabulary and be detectives when a word is unfamiliar. With student dictionaries kids can learn to navigate using guide words and alphabetizing skills to locate words and learn the meaning of the word, along with the part of speech. I love giving our students the opportunity to dig into a dictionary and not rely on Google. Each week my students will be given a word of the week. They will use the dictionary to find the word and report to the class the definition, part of speech, and the guide words. In writing I am excited to introduce a thesaurus to our students. Being able to give them word choice options will help them continue to build vocabulary and create a love of writing. We have amazing students who are eager to learn, I can't wait to give them new tools to use.
