This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As a school counselor in an urban school district, I see a lot of students with anxiety, stress, and depression, especially after the effects of the pandemic. Inside of my office, I have created a safe space, that is designed to provide students with a place where they can be calm and learn how to relax. I have aroma therapy, comfortable seating, art supplies, and a fountain to help them find comfort and relaxation.

With an iPad, my students will be able to access the Calm app and other SEL apps to learn how to meditate and focus on the present.

My goal is to help my students improve their mental health and learn how to have more control in their thoughts so that they can simply be happy.
