Wonderful World of Worms

Help me give my students a stand, an observation composter, and worm-friendly red lights to help them see vermin-composting in action.

My Project

Our students absolutely love to visit our resident composting worms - it's a great opportunity for them to see decomposition in action, and what's not to love about holding a real live worm? Unfortunately at this time, their visits are limited by the current setup of our vermin-compost system. The bin sits low, directly on the ground in a brightly lit room - not great for worms, or for kids.

The world of worms is wonderful, but dark and secretive.

By purchasing a stand, we'll bring the worms up to eye level and be able to let the bin travel more easily around the room. For even better observation, we'll be creating a smaller chamber that will always be kept dark, where students will be able to use red flashlights to watch the worms at work, without disturbing them.

These improvements will take the project to a whole new level, and our students (and worms) will delight in the change!
