Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students have been working on tempera painting this fall and they are so excited to get into the wonderful world of watercolor this spring! In order to do that we need lots of watercolor paint, washi tape for paint resist, a few more stools so all friends have a seat, more drying racks for our precious artwork and a few other odds and ends to keep our classroom running smoothly (like the amazing drawing reference resources from Teachers Pay Teachers).

Students will be using these watercolor supplies to create several fun projects including art based on the Webb Space Telescope images and a research project about the cosmos.

One of our goals on our campus is to encourage students to read, write, think and speak at school every day, this project will tie into each of these as artists research, create, provide feedback to each other, write artist statements and share the work they have created with our school!

My students are eager to get their hands on new and different art supplies than what they have used before so I am excited to be able to offer liquid watercolor as well as a few other things they haven't tried like felting, lino cutting, tempera sticks and more with this project!
