My Students

Did you have a favorite book as a child? Did you treasure that special reading time with an adult when you were younger?

My students LOVE to read, but often do not have someone at home who spends the time to read with them.

My students are 4th and 5th grade special education students who attend a diverse school in Manhattan. My students love school, but do not have the advantages that many children have.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will provide practice on skills required by the Common Core Standards. Most of my students have significant delays in language and these activities will provide a fun way for them to build the skills necessary for 4th and 5th grade and beyond.

Children who love school are more likely to succeed.

This project will help to provide activities they love while developing the skills that they need. This will also boost their reading level and make them more likely to want to go home and read.
