My Students

My class is a class of 32 enthusiastic learners who come from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. The majority of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch and many of them have already experienced homelessness at some point in their lives. Our classroom is our home away from home. We all come together as a community for lessons and fun activities. However, our resources are limited. We are in need of tools to help meet the needs of each individual learner in our classroom.

In our classroom, we are one big family and we are part of a larger school community.

Some students struggle with daily academic skills, especially those students who find traditional learning activities difficult or who are learning English as their second language. My students come from diverse backgrounds and cultures and it is important to celebrate the diversity that exists within our classroom. It is essential that my students learn to understand and celebrate their differences and similarities and to be respectful of other cultures, races, genders, and ideologies.

My Project

My students are growing up and learning in the 21st century. In order to be ready for the "real world" students need to be familiar with technology so they are ready for the ever growing field of STEAM based careers that they will be embarking upon as they graduate college and head into the work force. The Wonder Workshop Dash Robots (aka WonderBots) will help students learn and develop coding skills and how to engage collaboratively with technology and their peers. The students will be motivated to get a chance to work with the robots after completing their classwork and during Friday Club time. These learning materials will allow for continued success in our classroom and beyond.
