Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 32 students come from working class families. Most are Title I Low- Income families. At least 7 are from immigrant families.

At least nine of them do not have the resources at home to complete technology projects.

They work on projects in class and after school to keep up with assignments.

All are high academic achievement students who are the top of their class. They have earned placement in a School for Advanced Studies Program that requires technology integration.

My Project

In a world with digital natives, understanding technology is a must! They can use technology, but they need to understand what is behind it all. My students are ready for new challenges in new formats. Jobs that will exist when they graduate don't exist today. Currently 1.4 Million Coding jobs are available and only about 400,000 graduate are available.

CODING is the way of the future.

Providing my students with these Dot and Dash robots will enable them to code and begin practicing these skills and developing problem solving strategies beyond word problems. They may even compete if our equipment is available.
