Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The wonderful 31 students in my classroom love to read. The students in my classroom do not have much access to books outside of the school library. They look forward to checking out books from my personal library and the school library. They read for fun at home and enjoy sharing what they have learned. They burst with excitement when they see a new book in our class library.

My students are eager to immerse themselves in new books.

Students value books and know that reading is an essential skill.

My Project

The book Wonder teaches students about the importance of kindness and acceptance. While reading this book we will dive in to the importance of our actions how they affect others. I will use this book to teach theme, point of view, characterization and figurative language.

Wonder will be an essential tool for social emotional learning.

I want my students to be kind humans, show empathy and accept each other with all of their differences. This book will allow my students to grow as readers. "Courage. Kindness. Friendship. Character. These are the qualities that define us as human beings, and propel us, on occasion, to greatness."
