This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work as a special education teacher in a self-contained Autism unit, low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with numerous challenges both in and out of the classroom. The students I have the privilege teach range from grades kindergarten through fifth. I try to provide my students with all the necessities in the class. My students love to laugh and tell jokes to one another and start laughing before they even tell the punchline and then you can hear an echo of laughter ring throughout the classroom.
My Project
A STEM curriculum is vital, as it is infused in every component of our lives. Math, Science, Technology and Engineering can be found everywhere in the world around us. By exposing our scholars to STEM and offering them opportunities to fully investigate concepts and ideas connected to STEM, it will bolster an excitement leading to the pursuit of employment in the STEM field.
The If-Then collection contains a plethora of expert women in the field of STEM.
I would select women from each of the areas in STEM in which to focus and introduce to students. After introducing our focus subject, I would begin to teach a lesson correlating to that particular field. After each lesson, we will discuss students level of interest and how they can further access that field.
