My Project

The first installment of the social and emotional learning project for my school was fully funded recently! I saw how the students gravitated and utilized the space and resources on a daily basis. This goes to show how SEL continues to be an integral part of the school day. I have found that more resources are needed based on conversations with school counselors and students who utilize the space.

The most important skill students can develop and build upon through various experiences is self-efficacy.

To reinterate what was stated in the first installment of the Wolverine Oasis, it is important for students to be in control of their emotions. It is difficult for students to manage their emotions if they are not aware of their strengths and weaknesses.

Continuing to provide a calming and safe space with the necessary sensory objects and flexible seating will allow students to establish and maintain healthy relationships, manage emotions, and encourage self awareness. It is my hope to continue to expand the resources and materials that will be readily available to those students who will benefit.
