My Students

When I started at this school two years ago, a coworker told me the first time I met her that there will be lots of little ones that will need my love here! Boy, was she right!

Our school consists of over 800 students and is the most diverse of the thirteen elementary schools in the Central Dauphin School District.

We have approximately twenty countries represented in our student body. Class sizes range from 25-30 students with a high number of students who transfer in and out of the school.

My students come into school each day knowing that school is their safe place with a teacher who truly cares about them. Many of my students have a variety of academic, learning, and social-emotional needs. Every day is a fresh start, and that is one thing that is tricky about being a teacher, but it's what every student deserves. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, some even carry a heavier load of trauma. The students are the heart of my classroom!

My Project

Wobble stools will give my students a flexible seating option in the classroom! Not all students can sit still in a chair all day, while others may not prefer it. Letting my students have a choice with the option of wobble stools, gives them more say in their learning preferences! These wobble stools can be used at one of my tables, desks, or even as independent seating.

Flexible seating builds independence as students learn how to make decisions about their own learning.

It's a simple way to make learning a little bit more fun for my 5th graders too!
