Wobbling for Success

My students need alternative ways to work that will allow them to focus, move and be successful. WE need wobble chairs.

My Students

My students are eager kindergarteners who love to learn. They are engaged when moving, creating and sharing their thinking about their work.

Kindergarteners today are busy and there is much to do and learn.

My students learn to read, write, add and subtract. They work on social skills that are necessary for them to work and play with their classmates. They explore art and science and use technology to practice academic skills.

I plan our days to allow for a lot of movement, to keep my students' brains engaged. However, there is work that needs to be done at a table, so I began to look for additional ways to incorporate movement into their work times.

My Project

Young students need to move. I would like to incorporate alternative seating options in my classroom to support their need for movement as they work.

These wobble seats are designed to not topple, but to allow students to move and use their large muscles while working on stationary projects.

Students can engage their core and use their leg muscles as they concentrate on seatwork.

While these seats are advertised as being beneficial for students with attention concerns, they can also benefit all kindergarteners because all students need to move. These seats will be used in combination with other options such as traditional chairs, cushioned crates and floor mats.
